The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Helen Ga Sitting in the Helen' Cafe in Helen Ga awaiting breakfast. Also a visit to Betty's is in order. No place in town seems to want to open before 8. I pulled up to this place that had a crowd gather outside only to find out it was closed. But the owner made an exception and opened 15 mins early. As far as sleeping in a squirrel nest goes; it's for the squirrels. There's better aminities at a trail shelter. Regal Inn Canton Ga I got lost :(( But I had a great ride ;) Just north of Dillard I made a right turn onto a state road that would take me into North Caroline. Now using Google maps while riding isn't something I've mastered yet. So I had all my directions printed and put on my tank bag to view while cruising. Every Time I would make a map turn then I would stop long enough to see where my next turn was. It was working beautifully until I misread the 2.0 mile to my next turn as being 20. Ended up in Highland NC before I realize something was amiss. I traveled down south, back west, and missed my turn again. I ended in Clayton and decided to call it a day. Because of this forest firefighter's convention they're having in the area, just about all rooms are taken for. Except for this one last one in a roach motel. I don't know nothing about those five others that have head bashed in and are now in the dumpster but I do know I GOT THE ROOM.
