February Updates

Well, just a couple of items I need to catch up on.
At the end of last month my neighbor south of me, three doors down, house caught on fire and is was a total lost. I can not find any mention of it in the local paper so and I’m not sure who it was or if anyone was hurt. I need to catch Joe out in the yard and find out what he knows. This is the second structure fire in Moreland in the last two years. The other one was the first house west on College St. They have rebuilt with one of the Joe Williams homes and it does look nice. But it is still sad to lose one of the older homes.

On the morning of the 20th of this month I had to respond to an accidental shooting far out into the county. The call came out as “Subject accidentally shot to the head with an AK 47. Self inflected. “We knew right then that we would be going to someone that would be dead on arrival.
When we got there we had to go up into the bonus room in the attic to find the body. It was a 17 y/o boy that was shot in the back of the head. It could not have been self inflected.
The word got out about the shooting to the boy’s family before police could even get a positive identification and the family mobbed the Hospital ER. LaGrange PD had to do crowd control at the ER just to let the Ambulances in.

Also the local community of LaGrange is honoring one of its Hero’s who had fallen in Iraq. Sgt. Cory Spates. It had been a beautiful and emotional outpouring here with all the flags at half mass and nearly every marquee sign expressing some sentiment.
