The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. The New Toy

Truck Tent Yep, it came in yesterday while it was raining so I didn't get to play with it much then but today after it warmed up a bit I put it together. It took a while, and yes, I read the instructions. That's what took a while. These instruction were written originally in Mandarin Chinese, translated into Swahili, and then handed to a chimpanzee on a typewriter to do the English translation. But the pretty blonde that they had doing the assembly in the instruction made it look easy, or at lease; interesting. And I'm sitting there with the attitude of, "If she can do it, I can do it".

So, I dood it.

In about two hours.

But now I know how to do it right so it should be a lot simpler the next time. And that will be this Sunday at the Pine Glen Campgrounds near Heflin, Al, in the Talladega National Forest. That way I can give it a test run before I set out West with it. It's long enough for me to lay in it but I won't be able to use my cot. it doesn't set that high up, so a pad and sleeping bag is in order. But now this means I'm not tied to using a hotel room when I travel. So, watch out. This means that I'll be on the go a lot more.

Oh, and if you're wondering why I got it in camouflage, it's because I can hide it in truck stop parking lots.
