Well, it's getting to be that time to sally forth once again and as Horace Greeley is so oft misquoted as saying, "Go west, young man, and grow old with the country".
My westward sallying forth will start on the 5th of April, the Monday after Easter. I have to work that weekend but as always, if I have too, I shall get geeked up like a spider monkey on Mountain Dew to make it out. I will have a tent that fits on the back of my truck and won't have to worry about hotel bills. The plan is to head south on US 29 to Andalusia, Al. where I shall pick up US 84 and head west. I shall keep on US 84 through Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and into Texas. At Santa Anna, TX. I shall continue on US 67 south till Balinger, TX. and pick up TX 158 to Garden City. From Garden City I will pick up a few local roads until I come upon US 385 and then head north into Odessa, TX. Once in Odessa, I will stop and ask for direction.
In Odessa, I have a cousin that I wish to stay with for a night or two.
From Odessa I will head south on US 385 and make my way to Dunlay, TX. to once again to grace my Aunt and Uncle with my presence. I should arrive on either the 9th or 10th of April. From there I will stay and make my rounds of visitation and haunts until the morning, very early, 15th where I shall head out eastward on I 10, northward on 1 65 and northward on I 85 to arrive back in Moreland and grow old with the country.
The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed.
