Virginia Whitten 1933 - 2009

LANETT - Mrs. Virginia G. Whitten, 76, of Lanett Died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Graveside services are planned for Saturday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Cemetery with the Rev. Donnie Erwin-Brown officiating.

Mrs. Whitten is Survived by two daughters, Vickie Bell of Foley, Ala. and Joan Story of Opelika; sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie David (Mary Kay) Whitten of Mr. Juliet, Tenn., Clifford (Gloria Dean) Story Jr. of Valley and Gregory Dale Story of Opelika; 12 Grand-Children, and nine great-grandchildren.

Born April 10, 1933 in Randolph County, Mrs. Whitten was the daughter of the late Charlie Nichols and Lottie Ophelia Norred George. She retired from West Point Stevens Lanett Mill after 32 years of service. Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson O. Whitten; her daughter, Martha Richardson; her son, Donnie Wayne Story; and a brother Jerry George. She was a member of Pine Forest Congregational Christian Church.

Flowers will be accepted.

The Family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home is handling arrangements.


It's been pointed out that only one of Top's brothers was named, the other brothers and sisters that proceed her is Mary Jean Seams, Jimmy George, Charles N. George, Charlie L. George (Nellie), Jamie L George (Red), and Linda Boettcher.
