The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. The end of Charter?

It would have been about a week ago, on a Friday night, when this happened but one of the limbs off of the ol' oak at the road decided to fall and take the power lines and cables out with it. Well, they got out there pretty fast and untangled the limbs from the power lines and then with the help of the local fire fighters cut the limb up and got it off the road. Most of us who had lost power had it back on shortly. But then came the wait for the cable company.

By Monday, the cable T.V. was back on, but I only have cable T.V. because it's part of a bundle package that's makes getting internet cable cheaper. Like said the TV part was on but no internet. Here we go.

Call Charter and complain.

Charter claimes it's my equipment, ie: modem and router.

Take said equipment to a neighbors house and it works find.

Test equipment at the place where the cable come down from the house before the first splitter and it still wouldn't work. Also I tested it with out the router in place. No go.

Call Charter back and tell them my findings and they still claim that the problem is with my equipment.

I point out that I have the maintenance policy and that they need to come out here and check their lines.

It's scheduled.

It never happens....

And so I now am using Verizon broadband.

And Charter has lost another costumer.

I'll let ya'll know how well it works.

Also, in the muse is my work schedule change. I've been moved to the Hogansville truck with a green medic so as to keep her straight, or so I was told. It was either that or stick an even greener tech with her and watch the fun that ensures. I think management envisioned old episodes of "The Greg and I" if they had put that medic and tech together and they didn't want a repeat of those types of hilarity's in the county again.

The pace is a little slower in Hogansville, and I think I can use a few months of slowness but the truck is a 24 hr one and I work one 24 hr day and then get 48 hours off which means I'll miss my three day weekend every other week.

darn.

And then there's also going to be a little cut in pay, it'll average out to about $17 a week. For those of you that don't think $17 is that big a deal then I'll give you the address where you can send me $17 a week to make up for my income lost.

No, taker?

Aha, I knew it.
