The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Five Days and a Wake-up

The up coming walk-about is fastly aproaching.  I visited the chiropractor today and got a much needed adjustment.  Doc showed iinterest in my plans and she encourage me to try and get one more adjustment in before Friday.  I told her I had planned on getting in on Thursday.
I have to work tomorrow a half day for Willie so he can do his Reverending and then a full day on Monday.  Tuesday, Wednesday, I plan to get two hours apiece of hiking in with my planed pack and maybe two again on Thursday before I have to do a night half.  Then it will be FRIDAY!
I plan on stopping at the house just long enough to make sure that the cats will be plenty slopped for the next two weeks, change out of my uniform and then I'm dropping the truck off at Dale's in Palmetto.  It will be a mile walk to the bus station and I will catch the 180 into town to catch the Marta train at the air-port.  At Midtown I'll catch the 12 bus which will take me to the Cobb Galleria Mall transit station and then catch the CCT #20 to the South Cobb Dr and East-West Connector.  There I can pick up the Silver Comet Connector and walk to the trail-head.
If all goes well then I should make Hiram Ga. in time to bed.
Saturday I hope to make Coot's Lake, at Rockmart.
Sunday I'll see Cedar town.
Monday  should see me just shy of Piedmount.  There is a campsite where the Pinhoti crosses the Chief Ladaga and I may stay there.
Tuesday should see me at Doc Watson Park at Anniston, Al.  Doc Watson is really on the line between Anniston and Weaver, Al.
If  my feet has held up and I am on schedule the I will turn around and head back.  If so, then Wednesday will see me at Piedmont again.
Thursday just shy of Cedartown.
Friday will have me at the Brushy Mtn Tunnel outside of Rockmart.
Saturday I'll be at Hiram, Ga again.
Sunday I'll be pulling into Smyrna and trying to catch the buses back to Palmetto.
The return trip I may not try and go as fast so as to get into Smyrna on a Monday.  That way I can connect with the buses better.
But If I don't want to make the return trip walking then I may have to get a hotel and catch the AMTRAK back to Atlanta.
As far as what I will be carrying that will include a hammock, tarp-shelter, rain-suit, a change of clothes, my camp stove to heat water in the morning and other small paraphernalia.  The pack will be light and if the weather permits then I may even be able to get some kilt time.  If so I will get pictures and post.  Bo Cummings has been dying to see me in a kilt.  Fair warning, I wear them for comfort but the sight ain't gonna be pretty.
I have spent a good bit of the day looking around for my hand-held GPS and can't seem to remember where I stored it.  I'm at the office at Oak Lawn and I remembered that it should be in my wookie-shatchel, (as Jeff Sheppard christened it).  I'll check as soon as I get home and hopefully that portable solar charger is in the same place.
There is a very good reason why my head is attached to my shoulders.
