The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. What was I thinking?

Well, even though I nearly aced the BIO202 lecture finals it is quite apparent that I ain't been beaten by a branch off the smert bush nearly enough.
Allow me to elaborate; I bought Pork Chop "newish".  The battery is "newish" too.  I was hoping that that "newish" battery would last through this winter.
Well, the last cold snap was too much for it.  The headlight is still bright but there just isnt enough juice to turn the engine over.  If only they still install kick-starters.  I had forseen such an event and had the insite to install the plug for a battery tender, I just hadn't gotten the battery tender.
Monday morning I was in town after work and was throwing money at various bill collectors in the hopes of momentary confusing them and giving me a small respite before they ravishingly come back for more.  I stopped into my favorite cycle shop, SMF, and secured the needed tender.  Instead of going back to the house I went instead into the maelstorm of semester finals study.  Later that night when I finally arrived back at my humble abode I first had to endure the cats' concertos performed in a five part harmony by the Loco Glaring Caterwaulers then I was able to connect my latest aspiration to Pork Chop.  I was given the red light that it was charging so I left the shed and turn out the light behind me.
Upon the morn when it was time to be Wadley bound I entered the shed to ready Pork Chop for our daily adventure.
The red light was still on.
I tried to turn the engine over and it was a no go.  So I checked the connections and they all were good.  Maybe it needed more time?  If not then a new battery was in order.  So, I left the shed and turn the light out behind me again.
Tuesday evening when I return I headed straight for the shed to see if I was successful in my earlier endeavors.  I open the shed door and first thing was to check and see if the red light had turned green.  I don't know about green but I know it had turned dark.  No little light at all.
I immediately flipped on the shed's light and when I did I saw the little red light...come on.  Then I remembered that I had wired the shed's lights and receptacles to that...one...lone...switch.
Brilliant Smolmes!
