The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. The Old Oak Tree in Front is Gone

Due to the work that is going to be done on the front of the house I contacted an arborist to look at the oak tree in front and see about getting some of the limbs over hanging the house removed, plus some of the limbs from two pecan's overhanging the house on the south side.  Well, the arborist basically confirmed my suspicions that the oak tree was in pretty bad shape.  So we came to an agreed upon price to cut the limbs off of the pecans and to trim the old oak down to the trunk.

I had planned on building a gazebo around that old oak at one time so we left about 12 ft. of the trunk sticking up and now I will still have it as a center piece for the gazebo.  The rest of the tree I had them to just drop it.  I've learned from before when parts of that tree fell there was always someone coming around willing to tote it off for firewood and hand me a few dollars for it.  So, hey, why pay the arborist to tote off the tree when there are more then enough willing to pay me to tote it off.

And sure enough, not even before they were through cutting I had a couple of guys stop by to inquire about the wood.

Hey, life's good.
