Ms. Lois Brown Eley

Mrs. Lois Brown Eley, 94, of LaGrange died Saturday, November 01, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Eley was born April 18, 1914 in Heard County, GA, daughter of the late Thomas L. Brown and Nancy Hanners Brown. She had lived in LaGrange since 1940 and was a member of East LaGrange Baptist Church. Mrs. Eley was retired from Callaway Mills and Sewells Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend W.L. Eley.
Survivors include her two sons, Jerry Eley and Vern Eley; six grandchildren, Elem Eley, Ela Kaye Eley, Tammy Eley, Sebrena Flanagan, Vern Eley, Jr., and Tyler Eley; eleven great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 3, 2008 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerry Eley, Mr. Vern Eley, Sr., and Reverend Bobby Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her son, Jerry Eley, and will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to East LaGrange Baptist Church, Building Fund, 312 Hines Street, LaGrange, GA 30241. Arrangements are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, La-Grange, GA 30240 (706) 884-8636.


This was the mother of Rev. Jerry Eley, former pastor of Moreland First Baptist Church and Dad's old pastor.
