The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Christmas

Once again Christmas time is upon us. This is the celebration of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ. For the Father, who loves us so much, gave His only Begotten Son, the second Person of the Holy Trinity, to mankind by allowing His Son to humble Himself and become one of us, to become Man. Our Lord Jesus Christ is True God, being the Second Person of the Triune God, and He is True Man, being born of a woman. He is the God-Man, the new Adam, sent to show us that it could be done, and to show us that it could only be done with God.

So Christmas is a celebration where we should humble ourselves and give of ourselves to others in that total giving in love that expect no return, charity. For in this, the true joy of this season will be felt, and it will prepare us for the coming season of Lent, where Our Lord Jesus Christ showed us charity in the fullest by denying Himself and like a lamb allowed Himself to be led to slaughter so that death will pass us by when it’s sees the blood of the Lamb upon our souls that we received from baptism. Just like when St. Longinus received the gift of baptism from Our Lord Jesus Christ himself when he pierced the side of Our Lord with the spear and both Blood and Water flowed from the side. This allowed St. Longinus to proclaim, “Indeed this man was the son of God.” Mk 15:39
