The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. I had a "Butterfly McQueen" moment.

A first happened to me last night. Well, almost a first. At 0400 we were called out to a woman in labor. She was only a mile away. But before we got to her, dispatched said that they had called back and told her that she had already had the child. When we get to the house we are directed to a room and there laid the mother and she had the child wrapped up in a towel down around her stomach area. The cord hadn't been cut yet.
The child was a healthy baby boy, and while my partner clamped the cord off and cut it, I laid out the blunting and a hot pack wrapped up in a towel to place the baby in. Once the cord was cut the baby was placed in the blunting and wrapped up like a little burritto. By this time the baby has decided that he had made a mistake about being born and started to fuss and holler. My partner then started to concern himself with the delivery of the pacentia while I assessed the baby. The pacentia wouldn't come so my partner got the mother onto the stretcher then we loaded both mother and child into the unit. Took her to L&D at the hospital and while we were passing through the ER it seemed that every nurse that didn't have something to do wanted to help out with the baby.
But they got into L&D just fine, his name is Tovorris Clark.
