The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. I finally gotten that last roll of film developed.

That’s right, I finally found 5 things to take pictures of and gotten that last roll of film developed. You may want to cruse back through the blog and see where I had added new pictures. I’ll make it easy for you, you don‘t have to go beyond the first of the year.

So here it is, May 1st and I am looking at 46 deg. outside, something is wrong with this ‘picture’. But I am still getting ready for my upcoming Vacation.

How? (You ask?)

By working extra hard so that I will enjoy it more. chuckle

I will be putting in about 86 hours before I’m officially on “Vacation” next Monday morning. And I still have a lot to do before I get ready to go. I have to have the truck serviced first, seems that there is a carbon build-up in the intake manifold where the emission recycles the exhausted, therefore causing the computer to think that the sixth cylinder is misfiring. This would normally not be a problem except that I can’t pass the emission test while the computer carries that stupid code. There must be such a bad build-up in there that the normal solvents that are flushed to break that up ain’t doing the job. So they are going to have to take off the manifold and hand scrape or replace. I’m turning the truck in this evening so that they can get that done.

I have to work tonight, from 8p to 8a, then I’ll work a day-truck from 9a-6p, then another normal shift from 8p to 8a and by Wednesday I’ll have to work the 2p to 10p truck, (Sure am glad they don’t mind you taking naps when nothing is going on). By Wednesday or Thursday they should have my truck finished. Then I can get my emissions done and then my tag, (I don’t think it’ll be a good idea to drive out of state w/o my tag).

But while all of this is going on I still have a “Cat-condo” to finish. Can’t call it a “Cat-house” ‘cause those thing are still illegal in Ga. and I could be locked up for it. In the picture you see the outline for this condo; I’ll have for “floors” to it and holes so that the cats can go from floor to floor. A sun-deck on top, and I have the litter room at the bottom. I checked on boarding the cats, and it will cost $7.00 a day per cat. Well, that’ll come close to $300.00 just to board them critters for the week and for that much I’m building the condo and having the neighbor kid, Zack, keep an eye on them.

Speaking of Cats, the below picture is of Missy hunkering down under the covers to keep warm this winter.

Now, I have been asked several times what my schedule will be like on my vacation and the best I can say is that I am schedule to leave LaGrange, Ga. on Monday at 8a and will make my way to Dauphine Island, Al. to camp my first night. Then I’ll go westward, and maybe camp in Gulfport, Ms. Slidell, La. Or Houston, Tx. around Katy, or I may still feel ok and go straight into Dunlay. From there I’m not too sure. I remember some fine state parks around San Antonio, and I even would like to get James’ permission to stay a night or two on his land in Devine. The only sure thing is that on May 18, at 12p I need to start heading back eastward. I am going to try and see as many of the relatives as I can while I am out there. Also go around and take pictures of people and places. Them old pictures I have been telling Eddie about, I am going to bring them too, (and if I don’t he has my permission to shoot me).

Well, I am cutting this short, the sun is coming up and I still got pictures to get posted, (and ’condo’ to get built, ECT….)
