The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Computer Problems

Ok folks,

As of this posting I have been having Computer problems. I have a Toshiba lap-top that I have in a docking station and use pretty much like a desk top. The internal HDD started going bad, made those high-pitch grinding sounds that had the cats running into the next county.

I finally located a replacement. And then come the task of swapping them out. The old HDD was 30 gig and I have a 120 gig external HDD hooked up. Well, I used the program that came with the external to back up my internal but when I switch the two out that's when I discovered that to unlock the back-up files and restore I have to by the full version of the program.

No, I wasn't happy about that.

Yes, I sent the company that puts out that program a nasty e-mail calling them everything but white folks.

And no, Homeland Security hasn't paid me a visit yet, asking me to explain myself.

Whew!

The old HDD hadn't gone totally out yet so I was able to swap the two drives again and manually make the back-up and then after swapping again manually restore. And as most of Ya'll know, not everything gets restored.

So I am still having to retrain my system. I've thought about using a whip and chair but computer tend to be stubborn.

Progress On The House

As far as any physical progress on the house, very little has been done. I have started the application for the Line of Credit. And have taken the time to take a good look at what all I am looking at having to do.

Of hand I have to go back and reset foundations. Every floor need a cross beam to support the joists. The floor in the old kitchen has to be ripped and new joists and floor placed. The Kitchen that Dad had added on needs new foundation period. Who ever Dad hired to build that kitchen make the foundations like a deck. I need to re-plumb the house and rewire it. I am going to stay with the plaster walls but I may have to re-do everyone. I’m going to put wainscotings up with a chair rail. And since all my rooms are 12 ft. ceilings I’m going to put a picture rail up at the eight foot mark, plus crown molding. The picture rail will be good to place recessed lights in. I’ll use them as a diffused light source plus lamps in the room.

I do need to do something with the bathroom. It can not stay in the middle of the house. But I am not sure where yet.

Well, I will end this one here and continue on at a later date.

There has been a gross misuse of my name. It is floor JOISTS. Thank you.
P.S. There is a thing called spell check. If you need help feel free to call.

To anonymous: ( I wounder who it could be)
I write my post in Word and then post them to the blogger. Word has a function called auto-correct and for some reason it recognized joists as joyces. Go figure. I had to manually enter the word joists into the dictionary to correct this problem.
