The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Cheaha Mountain Hike

I rode to Cheaha this morning; wonderful ride!  I had bundled up in layers, expecting to shuck a good bit off at the trail head but when I got there by 9 am it was still in the mid 40 with a wicket breeze blowing. So I started the hike wearing everything except the helmet and gloves. There was 4 of us in this hike.

Within 1/2 a mile the jacket came unzipped. Another 1/2 and it was shucked off along with the thermal shirt. It wasn't until after McDill Overlook that I decided that the thermal pants had to go.   Everyone else was shucking clothes along with me.

The whole hike took about 7 1/2 hours, which is how long I figured it would take.

After we finished the hike we went up to the park to eat at the restaurant only to discover that we had missed lunch by 1/2 an hour and Dinner was still an hour away. Oh well, Jack's in Heflin is mighty tasty right now.
