The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. My Uncle and Auntie sure knows how to throw a wedding. I arrived about the time the procession started and slipped into the back. It was maybe all of ten minutes for the ceremony but it was how they wanted it and that's what matters. I believe that they wanted it short because they both were fixin' to have kittens as it was. When the minister gave Eddie the ring to put on Marie's finger he recited the words that Eddie was to repeat. Eddie just looked at him a moment like he wasn't comprehending and the minister said, "Eddie, that's what you have to say." A course laughter broke out all around with Eddie turning red, shaking his head, and a grin curling up to his ears. They did live through it. Afterwards, the reception and photo-shoot was held in the main fellowship hall. There I was able to meet up with my cousins Charles, his sister Shirley Lee, and Naomi & Adrian along with renewing acquaintances of friends of Uncle Eddie's from New Fountain. A lovely buffet of finger food awaited us and the meal was blessed but folks seemed a little hesitant to dig in. I was busy doing the shutter-bug at the time, {it ain't easy being the successor of Uncle Virgil Wooten}, and as i walked by Adrian he was looking at the buffet and asked, "Are we allowed to eat yet?" "Yeah, but i think they're waiting for someone else to go first." "Shoot, that's all I needed to hear." Adrian grabbed a plate and dug in. That was all that was needed because then all the rest started lining up. After everyones belly started to protrude a little bit is when the poising photo-shooting began. I don't know if i mention it before but this was the first time Aunt Marie has been able to gather all of her grandchildren together at the same time. There was shots of the newly weds, shots of the newly weds and the first generation under them, shots of the newly weds and the second generation, shots of the newly weds and the first and second generation, etc... Ain't technology wonderful? If film had been used then I'm sure it would take several thousand dollars and quite a few Wal-Marts to develop it all. It might even take a goose neck trailer to haul all the prints. But after all the photo-shoot, the eating, and the visiting, folks started taking their leave. And I took mine. I did a quick jaunt over to the cemetery and visited Aunt Pat at her grave site, then I was off to Kerrville to meet up with the Wessels. I make Kerrville a little after Six local time and met up with James & Suzanne. We stopped at the Cracker-barrel for some coffee and they wanted to get a little something light to eat. I declined anything other than coffee since my stomach still protrude a little and I knew my mother was going to have something waiting on me in San Angelo, even tho I said to her earlier not to worry about it. She is old school; company comes, she feeds them So after a light talk of shoes, ships, sealing wax, cabbages, and kings we begin to notice that the restaurant was nearly cleared out. It was Nine already. So, we parted. I grabbed an energy drink to help me not want to spontaneously QC the light blocking barrier effectiveness of my eye lids while driving and made my way to San Angelo. I passed by some pretty country except for one small problem; it was dark. I pulled into the apartment complex at 11:30, grabbed all my paraphernalia, found her apartment and knocked. She opened and I was surprised on three levels: Level one, mother has lost weight and was looking wonderful. Level two, this ginormous rat came up to me wagging a tail and my mother called it Mattie. This couldn't be the same puppy that my mother acquired just last year... Level Three, she had listened to me and didn't have anything ready to eat. That was go because i still wasn't hungry. After a short visit we both turned to bed. I had a restful sleep and mainly today have been a lazy-do-nothing day. The picture is of me holding a picture of me when i was a little tyke. At lease they tell me i was a little tyke once. It really serves no purpose to argue about it.
