Well, after spending several day getting beady-eyed looking at cat dissection videos, the day has came for the final lab test. I was late getting started out of the house and ended up arriving at class at the same time the doors opened to allow us to enter. The first couple of stations went good with eyes and sheep brains and such but then came the first cat. For the life of me I couldn't remember not a dayam one of them cat muscles name. I didn't panic, but stayed calm and went around to the next stations, but every one of the cat stations kept drawing a blank. I'm very confident that I got all the other stations right but not a one of the cat ones. They made up over half of the test. I didn't need this bad grade, now I have to do a super on the Monday finals.
Well, I had planed on finding a retreat and holding up there on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to do nothing but studying for the Monday finals and I found one in Wedowee. I went there after the lab finals and when I got there I realize that my back pack had slipped from it's secured position on the back of Piglet to the right side, against the muffler, and was smoking very merrily by the time I realize what was going on. Not sure what happen because I snatched the pack off too fast to see if I had secured it wrong or not. A hole was burned in the side of the pack and it burned my lab book, a text book, and my written notes. The case that I kept the iPad was also burnt to the point of a hole opening. Luckily, the iPad was alright, (I'm using it right now). But I made the deal for the retreat, found a dollar store and got another pack and a couple more bungee cords, re-secured everything and headed home by way of AL 48 heading towards Carrollton, I was going to pick up Ga 100 at the state line and follow it to Corinth and then the usual route home.
If I believed in karma then I'd wonder what horrible thing I'd done to have a break down just east of Woodland, Al. Not sure what happen but I lost drive. The engine was still running but the rear wheel wasn't driving. I believe I may have broke the drive belt, (I hope it's as simple as that), but not having a spare with me I called the road side assistance that my insurance agent sold me, (glad she talked me into it now) and awaited a ride.
While waiting I poke around again and notice that I was missing a bolt that held, among other things, the air filter and the false fender that kept the rear wheel from throwing crap onto the engine. That false fender was chewed up pretty bad, but I'm not convince that that is what cause the problem. But it won't be until after finals on Monday before I can tear into Piglet and find out.
It was kinda funny that a roll back was sent to haul me and Piglet back to Moreland, but we made it.
