The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Sunday

I got up at first light and went into the house to shower and shave and retrieve my stuff for the journey home. No one else was up but Eddie, but I slipped quietly on out without going over the goodbyes again. I headed towards San Antonio, again with that Melancholy feeling that soon, this too will be an avenue closed to me.
I made good time and nothing unusual happened while traveling back to GA. Stopped at Dreamlands for my customary Rib Sandwich, and that's when it hit me that today was Independence Day. Who'da thunk.

I did see some signs of fireworks outside of Montgomery, Al but nothing like I saw that time while driving by Arbor Place mall in Douglasville, all those years ago.

Made it home and tended to the cats. They were all trying to act standoffish until Mr. Bones realize that someone was willing to pet him. He is such a glutton when it comes to petting. Figaroe just poked her head out of the enclosure and then went back inside.
