Mother’s Day:
Nell and I went to Devine by way of 1343. We went by the Farm and saw that not much has been changed. There is now a shooting range on Myrt’s part, and that was one of the reason I didn’t camp on James’ part at the tank. Last thing I needed was some idiots shooting at me. I have noticed that most that goes shooting at a range have an I.Q. that is in direct line with the size of the slug they are firing, and remember that all the slugs are classified in the decimal range, (in other words their I.Q.’s are less than one). But it was still good to see the Farm again. We notice that the D.O.T. was doing a lot of improvements on 1343. Where it use to “T” at on the south end at the old Shookville school, a curve is being cut in.
From there we drove by Mattie’s son; J.B. new house, and saw it on a drive by, (no, not that type of DRIVE BY) and then paid a visit to her friend Carol Ann. From there we went by Bert’s grave and I finally got to see the marker in person. Then we went and did a little shopping. I enjoy shopping with Nell, she gets in the store, grabs what she wants and then back out again. None of this checking out everything else. Then for Nell’s Mother Day dinner we dinned at a fabulous, Five Star, establishment there in Devine; Dairy Queen.
From there we went back through Hondo to the H.E.B. and I picked up a picnic pork shoulder, some fixin’ to make a BBQ sauce and then I BBQ the shoulder on Eddie’s grill. I used a modified hand pulling method, (I don’t have the calluses to be able to actually grab the meat and pull it off) by slicing off the done parts and laying them back on the grill. It was a hit.
On Monday, Nell and I went into San Antonio to Janice and James’ house. Got lost on the way up there, my navigator got just a little turned around when we got into the sub-division, and right at the point where I was just about to called Janice to come find us, we found the street. They have done great things to their house on the remodeling. They took down that partition wall for the living room and just opened up the house. Janice had also found these sliding mirror doors for the closets in the bedrooms. I really liked that idea. Janice and I took a little tripped to the nearest Wall-green to develop the film I had already used up till then. Then we went back for some lunch, then Nell was ready to go home. I got some picture of Janice and James, Janice and myself, and James and myself before we left.

After dropping off Nell back at Dunlay, I went into Hondo and got some lumber for that break-down able bed frame idea I had. After I was in Hondo I decided to make a trip to Poteet and find Julia and Henry’s graves again. Took me a little hunting but I found both their old house and the graves.
