The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. 18th

I got up early and said goodbye to Pat before she went to work. Then went into Hondo, without anything in the bed, and got the truck washed. Then I went by and saw Maggie. Maggie introduced me to one of her nurses and she was talking about her brother living in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Returned to Dunlay and finished loading up the truck. Said Goodbye to Nell and Eddie and I talked for a little while more. While we were talking I was able to find that cookbook I bought for Joyce. Since it was in a black bag and slipped down into that little holder in the back door of Eddie’s truck, you couldn’t see it unless you looked directly at it. Left Dunlay at around 11:30 EST.
I kept the cruise control set on 60 and at the Petro Truck Stop I bought an extension cord so I could keep the cooler running back in the bed. I kept the passenger window rolled ½ down and kept cool that way. I didn’t have to get gas again until Slidell, La. I knew from the fact that I filled up there on the way out that I wouldn’t have to fill up again until after I got home. Makes a big difference not having to run the AC.
Made it home at 5 Am., and checked on the cats. They were like, “Who’s this fool?” Finally Figaroe sassade over with a, “I kind of remember you look”. Oh, well, great to be home.

That’s about raps it up for the vacation, going to try and see if I can do it again soon. But if I start taking them vacation regularly I’m liable to get spoilt.
