The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday, and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday.  Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, which is the predecessor of the Easter season.  For 40 days the Church ask it's people to either give up something that is dear to them, or more simply; give up a habit that would be hard for the person to sacrifice.  This year I will give up again, Meats, (not fish), Dr. Peppers and soda's in general, (so, if I rip your head off it's because of the deficiency in caffeine) and I will take on something different this year:  No Facebook.

Now, I have a hike scheduled for March 20 till when I get back.  It will be for the hiking of the Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga Trail.  Some of you may remember that I hiked that trail back in 2011 by taking Amtrak to Anniston and then walking back to Smyrna. This time I will leave my truck in Palmetto, bus it to Smyrna and then walk to Anniston.  If I make Dr. Watson's park in Anniston by March the 24 then I will turn around and walk back (feet willing).  If not then I will make my way to the Amtrak station and catch the next train that will be Atlanta bound.  But I will post updates on Facebook of my progress via e-mail from my account.  So, I'll just post my progress without actually getting on Facebook.

It should be interesting.
