Got up and went to Mass in Castorville at St. Louis' . The town of Castorville is heavily influence by the Alsatian french movement and St. Louis has that old french gothic feel about it. They also have the Moye retreat center which is adjacent to St. Louis.
I attended the 8 am Mass and then I went to New Fountain, TX which is a community about 4 miles out of Hondo, TX. met up with my Aunt and Uncle at their church. I sat with them in their Sunday school and then attended service with them. On the second Sunday of the month New Fountain Methodist Church has a bell choir that performs during the services and I was lucky enough to be able to attend the month of April's performance.
After church we went into Hondo to the Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant where they have a very good buffet. I had some boiled shrimp and oysters on the half shell along with a sampling of the other dishes. They had some baked spinach there that was delicious.
I parted with my Aunt & Uncle after we had finished and went on in search of Aunt Nell. She is in the Mystic Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Rm# 312 and it's only about 1 or 2 miles from Janice's place. James is in there too. He's fighting infection from his leg and generally not doing nor looking too good. His room is only about three doors down from Nell's. Nell looks good, still springy but beginning to look like ol' scratch. I remember how badly she use to want to lose weight and couldn't, now she has lost a lot of it and have problems keeping it on. I got a chance to see Janice and Dara. Janice with her cane which I think she uses more so to get folks out of her way, but both of those ladies were doing well. We would visit some in Nell's room and when Nell got tired of us we'd travel down to see James and when James got a little grouchy we go back and see Nell which I thought was a lot of walking until I realize that both James and Nell don't really want anyone around them for any length of time so the trading off worked out well and kept Janice exorcized...
Oops, I meant exercised; my bad.
I left about the time dinner was being served and then went to over to the old neighborhood I lived at back in 1969. Last time I came through there they were redoing the old house. Adding on a larger back room and extending the front out some. This time it looks like they had finished but I didn't stop. The street was crowded with cars and it would have been a hassle. From there I went to Poteet, TX. to pay my respect to my pass relatives there, and go by my grandparents old house there. Well, the Poteet Strawberry Festival was rapping up and I was able to outskirt it to get around before I headed to Devine Tx. From what I could see of the Festival it was a regular fair.
Got into Devine in time to pay my respect to past relatives and look around to see the micro changes going on before I headed back to Dunlay. I decided to take the Bury Rd. (?) to Dunlay and it took a while to find it, but once I had I made it back to Dunlay right at nightfall. And no, I didn't do seventy on that road as some relations to me are prone to do.
