The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. Another Star of Life

ems_star_of_life We got a call to respond to a 79 y/o female in town and she was in full cardiac arrest. The Fire Department that responded with us were on the ball, the pt initial rhythm was asystole and we got the patient into the ambulance in record time. Continued CPR and my paramedic partner, Wilson, intubated the pt while I handed Fire the pads to place on the pt, pulled the first round of drugs to push and got a bag of saline ready. An IV line couldn't be established so the paramedic set an IO in the left leg. It was good. We were in route to the hospital within 13 min's of being on the scene.

By the time we reached the hospital, the pt. had a pulse again.

This was my paramedic partner's first cardiac arrest and she did well. Just like she was suppose to. And getting that IO was unbelievable. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't watched her with my own eyes.
