For those of you that are not familiar with family lore, I need to give you some back ground on “Lake Suzy”.

Back when Dad and Linda first move into the House in Moreland, they had a Female Great Dane and a couple of her mix-breed puppies. (Maxine, the Dane, had a “thing” for Shepard) In the big side yard of the house, Dad staked out one of the pups, Suzy, with a dog house. When they came home one day after a good rain they found that that side yard is low and that the water from the road runs into it and then stand for a few days. Suzy was staked out in the middle of this “flood plane” and to get out of the water she sat on top of her dog house. The sight was so comical that it was nick-named “Lake Suzy”.
My neighbors next door, The Cato’s, that live north of me land sits lower still. But Cameron St. divides the two properties and a bar-ditch was placed on the north side of Cameron St. to stop the water from flowing across his land. Well, Don has a driveway and an access to the back of his property that crosses this bar ditch. The access is “down stream” of the driveway. The problem that Don has is that the drain pipe that goes under his access is sits up higher then his driveway, causing a back-up at each rain.
Well, today when I came home there was a county work crew that was dredging out that bar ditch and resetting the access drain pipe to where it will be lower then the driveway. What more: The Mayor of Moreland was on site and him and I discussed putting in a drainage pipe under my own drive and do it in such a way as to drain the water away from the “Lake Suzy” area.
I will keep ya’ll posted on the development of this project.

And maybe get some pictures to help illustrate the point
