The Journey of twenty-two hundred miles begins with just a single step. Lao Tzu (paraphrased) This blog is mainly about my excursion upon the Appalachian Trail. This is a journey that has been 15 years in the planning stage and on March 20, 2022 it will see that plan being executed. The Moreland Kudzu Vol. 3

The Moreland Kudzu

vol.3

Well, the third installment of the Moreland Kudzu has been long over due and I think it is about time I did some catching up. I have purchase a Toshiba Satellite A15-S127 laptop and am able to access the internet at home instead of having to go to the library. So I should be able to put these newsletters out more often. That way everyone can print them up and use them as toilet paper.

Over the pass year I have been busy with other things and have done only upkeep of the Boettcher’s homeplace here. A lot of the switching bushes I have cut last year have come back and almost reclaimed what ground I had claimed. Sense these are new plants, I won’t have the trouble I had last year with those that were as big as my thumb, twice my height, and had briers all up in the top. But I need to get on them soon.

I had become a Certified Nursing Assistance in October of 2002, and now I am working towards becoming a Resister Nurse. My sister keeps looking and me when I say that and says, “Sucker”. But I have finally found the nitch that I have been looking for. I have had one set back and that was that I wanted to start classes this quarter but the Jr. College I applied to, in June, told me at the beginning of Sept. I needed my old high school transcript, and that I needed to get them myself. First time I ever heard of that. The rounding up of the transcripts is an issue within itself. By the time I got the transcripts it was too late for me to start the fall quarter. I spoke to the school president and called them everything but white folks. I have an assured seat for the winter quarter, but I am still applying to another just incase.

I have resigned my job at Avalon and am now working for the VA Medical center in Decatur, Ga. I’m hopping to be able to get at least 6 months to a year there and then be able to go somewhere closer to home. By that time I should be ready for my clinical. I was caregiving an 84 yr. woman during the daytime but she got to the point where her daughter had to place her in a Long Term Care facility. I’m still keeping tabs on Adele; I had grown quite fond of her.

My father is about the same at Avalon. His mother, Bert, brother, Eddie, and sister in law came down on the weekend of October 24 and stayed until the wee hours of the 28th. We had a nice visit, no fights.

Last year we had elected a new mayor in Moreland and Mr. Ball has done a bang up job. Leaves everyone alone, minds his own business, and does a wonderful job. For a lot of the things needed to be done in town he has been getting volunteers to help. He is not as pretentious as that last “what’s his name”.

Hats off to my friends Melissa and her fiancée, Duane, and their pending marriage in January. Also to Mark and Joyce on the expected arrival of little Marlena in January.

If you have anything of interest that you would like to see pass on then send it. I will see that it gets into the next issue, when ever that maybe. And also you don’t have to suffer alone. Send me an email address of a friend and they too can be up to date upon the happening of Moreland and such.

Well, the 'possum done been ate, so I guess I'll be going.

Please take care of yourself.

Deo Vividus

Charles
